Erbium YAG Laser

Erbium laser resurfacing is a precise, non-invasive treatment that targets fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and sun damage by gently removing the outer layers of skin. This stimulates natural collagen production and reveals a smoother, brighter complexion with more even tone and texture. Visible improvement can be seen after just one session, with optimal results building over multiple treatments. Downtime is typically minimal, and with consistent skincare and sun protection, results can be long-lasting.

Treatment Process
New patients will need a consultation prior to having an Erbium laser session. At the consultation, the goals, post-treatment process, maintenance of Erbium, and number of sessions will be discussed. The day of the first Erbium session, the skin will be cleansed and prepped. Then the handheld IPL device will be moved across the skin. Then the post-care treatment will be discussed and the next appointment will be booked if necessary.

Downtime & Post-Treatment

Day 1: Mild redness, swelling, and warmth similar to a sunburn are normal. Dark spots may temporarily appear darker as pigment rises to the surface. Apply cool compresses for 10–15 minutes at a time to soothe discomfort. Use a gentle moisturizer and apply broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30+). Avoid makeup, direct sun exposure, hot showers, saunas, heavy sweating, and any skincare products containing retinoids, acids, or exfoliants.

Day 2: Redness may continue, and pigmentation may look more pronounced, this is part of the natural healing process. Gently cleanse and moisturize the skin. Do not scrub or use harsh products. If outdoors, reapply sunscreen every 2–3 hours for continued protection.

Day 3: The skin may feel dry or tight as dark spots begin to flake or lightly crust. This is normal. Allow skin to exfoliate on its own, do not pick, peel, or scratch. Continue using a mild cleanser, moisturizer, and strict sun protection.

Days 4–7: Visible flaking and shedding of pigmented areas typically occur during this time. Skin will begin to look brighter, clearer, and more even. Stick with gentle skincare; avoid scrubs, exfoliating brushes, or active ingredients. Makeup can be resumed if the skin barrier is fully intact.

Day 8 and After: Redness should be resolved, and improvements in tone and texture will be more noticeable. Pigmented spots will fade or clear. Maintain daily use of sunscreen to protect your results and prevent new pigmentation. You may gradually reintroduce active ingredients under the guidance of your skincare provider. For best results a series of 3–6 treatments spaced 3–4 weeks apart is often recommended, depending on your skin concerns and treatment goals.

Yes, CO2 Laser Resurfacing is highly effective for treating acne scars. The treatment works by using laser energy to remove damaged skin layers and stimulate the production of new, healthy skin cells. This helps smooth out the skin’s surface, reduce the appearance of scars, and improve overall skin texture.

For deep acne scars, multiple sessions may be recommended to achieve the best results. While CO2 laser resurfacing can significantly improve the appearance of scars, it’s important to have a consultation with our specialists to determine the best approach for your skin type and scar condition.
