When you get started on your fitness journey, it can be a long and hard process. There will be many downs before you even see any ups. There are even times where you just can’t seem to lose the pesky fat you’ve been wanting to. It seems like you’ve tried everything and nothing’s working. This is where the topic of freezing comes into play. No we’re not talking about temperatures dropping. We’re talking about Cryolipolysis!
Whether you’ve heard this word before or not, a lot of people run away at it’s long and difficult spelling. Let us break it down for you. Cryo means involving or producing cold in extreme temperatures. So, if you put two and two together, it helps with figuring out exactly what it means. It is known as the key to shaping your body the way you want to. Cryolipolysis is what everyone refers to as fat freezing. It’s a nonsurgical way to reduce the fat cells in your body by using cool temperatures.
According to Harvard Health, there are two kinds of fats that you should know about. One of them is Subcutaneous Fat. This is the fat that is targeted when you get Cryolipolysis. It’s known more as the outer fat of your body. The second type is called Visceral fat. This is the fat that lines your organs.
How it’s Performed
Unlike it’s confusing name, the process of cryolipolysis is fairly simple. You usually will go to a doctor’s office where your physician will assess the area that you want to be treated. They will then mark the area and while you’re awake, an applicator will be used to freeze the layer of fat underneath the skin.
A common question is if it hurts or if there is any damage afterwards. The answer varies depending on the person. There is a gel pad that is applied before the procedure starts so that your skin will be protected. Some patients state that there is some stinging and cramping during the first 5-10 minutes. This usually subsides as the area goes numb because of the cooling.
Advantages
Other than the fact that this is a very low risk procedure, there are some other benefits and advantages to cryolipolysis:
- Patients don’t need to be sedated
- More than one area of the body can be treated per session
- Fat cells that are destroyed are permanently removed from the body
- No damage to muscles, blood vessels, or nerve fibers
The benefit of all is how it improves self-esteem because of the improvement of appearance. Call for a free consultation at (407) 960- 1000 or come to the office so that you can personally speak with one of your trained nurses on what the next steps could be.
