Humidifiers and Your Skin

You’ve probably heard of a humidifier when you’re trying to get rid of a cold. It’s a a very common treatment to clear the nostrils and get rid of some of the flue symptoms. What you probably didn’t know is that the benefits go beyond the common cold. That’s why we want to make sure you know what they are.

Let’s start by digging deeper on what a humidifier is. They add moisture to the air, which is great for the respiratory system and even dry skin. According to Healthline, while using one can be great, overusing it can lead to more health problems. That’s why it’s important to understand the right way to use them before buying one for you.

Dry air can do some damage to the respiratory system and even our skin. That is why using a humidifier is great for being able to make sure that your body is getting the hydration it needs at all times. There are some people that experience respiratory problems during hot months. This may seem like a weird thing but the weather is hot and it also contains more allergens. Not only that but using the air conditioners during this time will ensure that dry air is moving all across the room.

When the cold temperatures begin, this also poses a threat to our respiratory system. The air is dry and it’s harder to make sure that we are getting the moisture we need. Not only that but our skin also becomes extremely dry. This can cause problems in the future like wrinkles and even acne. This is when a humidifier comes in hand. Lotions and crèmes may help for a small period of time but it will eventually just be evaporated. A humidifier will help make sure that even when you’re asleep your skin is getting the moisture it needs to stay healthy.

Like the saying goes, too much of something is never good. This also applies to humidifiers. As much as we want o think that it’s a very harmless object, using it too much will do more harm on your body then good. One thing to keep in mind is that you should never allow children to handle a humidifier. This can lead to our first risk, which are burns.

They are one of the more common risks that come with owning a humidifier so you should be careful which how you handle it. Not only that but allowing too much moisture in a room can add condensation to the walls. This can result in mold growing and spreading throughout your home. It’s also very important to make sure that you’re constantly cleaning your humidifier. They can get dirty quickly and cause bacterial growth that can promote coughs and even cold. This is the OPPOSITE of what we are trying to achieve.

The bottom line is that humidifiers can be a great way to restore the moisture that is lost in your skin.
