Benefits of a VI Peel

POV: You’ve taken care of your skin for years. You wear sunscreen, spend money on skincare, and even make sure to check in with your dermatologist. No matter what you do, your skin can’t seem to cooperate. You may have heard of a VI Peel before, you just didn’t know that’s what it was called. It’s basically a chemical peel that’s used on your face for the treatment of acne, scarring, wrinkles, aging, and sunspots. A chemical peel is a completely safe procedure that has proven to be effective on all skin types.

What’s the secret to it all you ask? It all comes down to the ingredients that make up this wonder peel. Some of them are trichloroacetic acid, retinoic acid, salicylic acid, phenol, Vitamin C,and a blend of minerals. Put them all together and you have the chemical peel. The word chemical sounds super aggressive but we promise the peel isn’t. It’s safe enough to be put on the skin so that it exfoliates and stimulates the production of new proteins according to Healthline.

Let’s break down some of the benefits of a VI peel so you can understand more of what it can really do.

  • Fine Lines and Wrinkles- when you have a chemical peel, it usually breaks down the top layer of skin cells This will stimulate your body’s natural healing process. This process will produce new collagen and elastin.
  • Sun Spots and Discoloration- Since this peel breaks down the top layer of skin, it can help lighten areas of your skin that have been darkened by the sun.
  • Acne- It is said that since Salicylic Acid is one of the key ingredients of a VI peel, it can often be used to improve acne for many people. It reduces inflammation and reduces the number of clogged pores that you may have.

Now that you’ve heard about what it can actually do, your next question must be HOW is it done? This is a fairly simple process that takes about 20-45 minutes. The skin is first cleaned and then that’s when the solution is applied. There are two layers that will be put on the skin. The first one is used to go into the skin cells on the skin’s surface and the second one is used to go deeper into the dermis. This is usually where all of the toxins are hiding in the skin.

After the solution dries, you are basically free to continue going about your day. After 5 hours is when you can wash it off. The next week or so is very important. This is where you have to take the most care of your skin. You will notice that after 2-3 days it will begin to peel. Throughout the peeling process you should probably avoid direct sunlight and keep yourself from peeling off the dead skin. This will only irritate it more.
