Acne and Acne Scarring Removal

Non-ablative skin resurfacing uses an Erbium laser to improve skin texture, restore smooth skin, reduce fine lines and wrinkling, while also treating both visible and invisible sun damage. This advanced laser technology removes the outer layers of skin, resurfacing new skin cells below. Erbium lasers also stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, two proteins that our bodies naturally produce that provide rigidity while simultaneously keeping tissues strong and flexible so that skin can bounce back to its original shape. As a result of its precision and its ability to be calibrated for different areas of treatment, Erbium lasers are preferred for skin resurfacing treatments. What Can I Expect?

Pain

Erbium lasers penetrate into the deeper layers of your skin that can cause mild discomfort, but should not cause pain postoperatively. Our staff at YMD, will take appropriate measures to make sure patients are comfortable throughout the procedure. A topical numbing cream will always be used, and Pronox (a nitrous oxide gas that is inhaled), local anesthetics, and oral medication may also be offered to help offset any discomfort depending on the patient.

Recovery

Recovery period varies from patient to patient. Patience is key when recovering from any laser skin resurfacing procedure. The YMD team will follow you closely throughout the first week to determine when ointments can be stopped, make sure the skin is healing appropriately, and there are no signs of infection. Unlike the CO2 laser which penetrates deeper and has more downtime, the Erbium laser usually requires a series of treatments for optimal results. A thick lubricating ointment will continue to be applied to the treated skin for the first several days until the YMD team gives you clearance to discontinue. Avoid using makeup or any harsh products on the skin until you are fully healed from this treatment. The YMD team is here to walk with you every step of the way.

Results

In order to receive your desired results, it is recommended that you receive a minimum of three treatments of Erbium laser resurfacing. In addition, the Erbium laser must be combined with daily Medical Grade skincare to both augment the results as well as maintain them. After this youth-enhancing treatment, you will notice that your skin feels firm and looks toned; your fine lines and wrinkles will be subdued, and your skin will appear smooth and clear.
